Belt up for Belt pipe Scanning! Print E-mail
Phoenix Inspection Systems has upgraded its popular belt pipe scanner to allow phased array inspections. The BeltMAN offers a quick and easy solution to the problems of testing pipework and can also carry out TOFD (Time of Flight Diffraction), corrosion mapping and pulse echo scans.

Unlike many other systems, which rely on magnets for attachment, the BeltMAN simply attaches to the pipe by means of an ingenious roller chain which is easily adjusted to fit pipes of different sizes. It is suitable for pipework ranging from 4 to 40 inches in diameter and is low profile, able to operate with as little as 2 inches clearance. The BeltMAN can be quickly installed.

The modular design allows a range of different options to suit individual requirements.

Karl Quirk, managing director of Phoenix, says: “The BeltMAN is cost-effective and versatile, allowing operators to carry out a range of testing techniques on a variety of different pipe sizes. It is proving particularly popular for phased array or TOFD inspections. It is also ideal for testing austenitic steel, where the traditional approach has required a different track for every different pipe diameter.”
