Mini Magman geared to growth of phased array Print E-mail
Mini Magman ScannerA new low-profile magnetic wheeled scanner ideal for use with phased array, TOFD and pulse echo techniques has been developed by Phoenix Inspection Systems.

The Mini Magman is a smaller version of the Magman, one of Phoenix’s best selling scanners. It can be used on everything from flat plate to pipes as small as 3” outside diameter and is the ideal tool for testing pipe to elbow welds.  The Mini Magman is increasingly being used for inspections where ultrasonics, and in particular phased array, is being used to replace radiography in accordance with the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code -2007 edition.

The Mini Magman is fully encoded and holds up to four ultrasonic probes. It offers various options to the technician, including the use of a chain guide, belt attachment and non-magnetic wheels.

Paul Ryan, sales manager of Phoenix Inspection Systems, said: “The Mini Magman offers the efficiency and flexibility of the Magman but in a smaller, neater format.  Given the popularity of the original and the Mini Magman’s suitability for phased array, currently the industry’s fastest growing technique, it promises to be another best selling line.”
