Phoenix launches dual-axis motorised version of best-selling scanner Print E-mail

A new magnetic motorised dual-axis scanner from Phoenix Inspection Systems offers a wide range of possibilities in automatic inspection.

The MagScan is ideal for scanning pipes or any flat or curved surfaces. Like the Magman - one of Phoenix’s most popular scanners on which it is based - the MagScan is low-profile, lightweight and versatile and can be used for TOFD, phased array or corrosion mapping.

Its compact size allows it to scan in areas where other scanners are unable to operate. It can be set up by one operator and offers fast and easy inspection. The MagScan offers a range of stroke lengths and can carry up to six probes at a time.

MagScan Dual-axis scannerThe system can be configured to perform axial scans with circumferential increments or vice versa and can be connected to the Phoenix MCPA, motor controller, or any commercially available instrumentation that incorporates motor control.

Paul Ryan, sales manager with Phoenix, said: “Our non-motorised scanner, the Magman, has proved hugely popular with customers as it is easy to transport and configure and can be adapted for a wide range of uses. The MagScan is a motorised dual-axis version of this and was produced following requests from a get datasheetnumber of customers. The response so far indicates that it is likely to enjoy the same success.”
