Phoenix is renowned for its manual and automated scanners and flexible design allows products to be adapted to suit different circumstances. If you cannot find what you are looking for from our standard range, we can produce custom-designed scanners to suit your individual needs.
Magman
This popular magnetic wheeled scanner was designed specifically for manual operation. Compact yet robust, it carries up to eight ultrasonic probes.
The Magman is highly versatile and capable not only of scanning flat plate welds but also of the inspection of pipes down to 100mm outside diameter.
Mini Magman
Simple to operate with just one hand, the Mini Magman holds up to four probes and is useful for low-profile inspections of pipe and plate.
This highly adaptable magnetic wheeled scanner comes in three versions, for weld inspection, pipe to elbow scans and for phased array use.
Multi-channel Ultrasonic data logging system
The pig is used for continuously measuring wall thickness, using a ring of ultrasonic transducers around its circumference, whilst the pig moves through the pipework.
TOFD Caliper
This pocket-sized device allows for quick and easy TOFD scanning with a permanent record of the results. It is ideal for inspecting smaller areas or those which are difficult to access and has proved itself as a firm favourite with TOFD technicians.
Beltman
The BeltMan scanner from Phoenix ISL is a 2 axis manual X-Y scanner. It is designed for use with the Olympus HydroFORM probe.
The BeltMan scanner is fully encoded on both axis and has the ability to inspect pipes from 4” OD up to flat simply by adding extra links or magnetic wheels.
The arm allows you to inspect up to a maximum stroke of 600mm and has a set of magnetic wheels attached which gives the scanner the rigidity and stability when performing a scan.
Bracelet
Small-bore phased-array pipe scanner
The Phoenix manual Bracelet scanner is a low profile (0.5" radial clearance) small bore phased-array pipe scanner. It has the ability to inspect standard pipes ranging from 0.5" to 4".
The short movie below demonstrates use of this scanner.
MultiMag
The new MultiMag scanner is ideal for TOFD and / or Phased Array/PE inspection and is available in either a two or four probe arrangement. The quick release handles allow for fast and easy probe and encoder set ups. The scanner is designed to aid inspection on misaligned welds and operates from 75mm diameter to flat.
SWIPE
SWIPE from Phoenix ISL is a two axis manually operated X-Y scanner. It enables quick C-Scan inspection of flat or curved components with unlimited travel in one direction. It is suitable for inspection with ultrasonic phased array, conventional pulse-echo or eddy current techniques.
The SWIPE scanner is fully encoded on both axis and can be configured to operate with any probe and wedge combination.
Belt Pipe Scanner

The Phoenix ISL range of Belt Pipe Scanners are robust, low profile andflexible. The scanners have a very low profile, less than 50mm oncertain models and can be used on both ferritic and austeniticmaterials ranging from 200 to 1000mm diameter.
Wren

A manual TOFD hand scanner, the Wren can be held in one hand and isideal for site use, particularly where minimum access is required. Itis available in 4-inch or 8-inch versions and comes with spring-loaded,quick release wedges.

Manual SpiderThis unique lightweight device combines the benefits ofautomation with the flexibility of a manual unit and with magnetic orvacuum feet, it will attach to any surface. If you require a systematicscan of a small area or component, the Spider provides the solution. This is a new development based on the highly successful automaticSpider.

Automated scanners
SAGE SCANNERS – Two Axis Motorised Pipe Scanner
The SAGE range of pipe weld inspection manipulators were designedfor the automatic ultrasonic inspection of pipe and nozzle welds.
They include the manipulator, mounting ring, circumferential and axialdrive mechanics, transducer holders, all cabling and couplant serviceincluding a 12 metre umbilical.
Spider

This unique lightweight device combines the benefits of automation with the flexibility of a manual unit and with magnetic or vacuum feet, it will attach to any surface. If you require a systematic scan of a small area or component, the Spider provides the solution. A manual version is available.
Trakit
Designed for the automated scanning of large areas, the Trakit runs on automatic welding machine rails which means only one set-up is needed for welding and testing.

The high temperature model operates at 170°C and further speeds up process times by allowing welding, heat treatment and inspection to be carried out at the same time.
